Project: Apple Pride 2020 Template

Situation
During the pandemic, Apple faced the challenge of keeping retail employees in the New York Market engaged and connected while working remotely. With the annual launch of the Apple Watch Pride band, the opportunity arose to align internal communications with Apple’s Pride marketing campaign. The need was clear: to design a visually engaging and inspirational keynote template that reflected Apple’s core values of diversity, equity, and inclusion while empowering leaders to share critical updates and foster team spirit.
Task
The objective was to create a presentation template that served multiple purposes: share product updates, celebrate achievements, discuss processes, and align with Apple’s most recent global campaigns. Additionally, the design needed to reinforce the celebratory energy of Pride while appreciating and uplifting LGBTQI+ employees. Collaboration with retail leadership and ensuring alignment with Apple’s brand guidelines were critical to the success of this initiative.
Action
Leveraging Apple’s animated Pride illustrations as a foundation, I adapted the original warm color palette and thin-lined flat style into a dynamic keynote design. I created multiple new custom illustrations, including flat characters that captured the vibrant energy of the campaign, and integrated interactive slides encouraging employees to share their Pride stories and experiences. Prioritizing innovation, I incorporated elements of Apple’s software ecosystem, such as Memoji and iMessage Tapbacks, to add playful, celebratory features. To highlight Apple’s employee-first values, I designed employee recognition slides with darker backgrounds and contrasting visuals, ensuring these moments stood out as focal points in the presentation. Throughout the project, I collaborated closely with retail leaders to ensure the template met their needs and adhered to the vision and purpose of Apple’s communications strategy.
Result
The resulting keynote template was a vibrant, engaging communication tool that empowered retail leaders to deliver impactful presentations while staying aligned with global campaigns. It successfully balanced celebrating diversity with practical functionality, allowing leaders to share updates, celebrate results, and discuss processes in an inclusive and inspiring format. The project demonstrated a seamless blend of innovation and collaboration with executive stakeholders, reinforcing Apple’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion while fostering a sense of community during a challenging time.
Prior to starting a meeting, it was suggested that a leader showcases some Apple Pride photos that were taken over the years at the many parades that Apple participates in.
